Better Business Bureau Calls Walker Stalker Events a “Scam”
Walker Stalkers LLC, which runs conventions under the Walker Stalker Con, Heroes & Villains, and FanFest names, has been having a bit of a rough patch when it comes to finances lately. We reported on this back in April, and while the company has made some effort to refund people for cancelled events and appearances, many might claim that it hasn’t been quite enough. Those issues seem to have come to a head though, as their problems are now becoming known outside of the geek community.
Nashville’s WSMV is reporting that the Better Business Bureau is now openly warning people to avoid Walker Stalkers LLC run events. Per their article:
According to the Better Business Bureau there are 26 complaints from fans across the country, 18 of them involve refunds. In fact, they said the company owes fans more than $6,000.
“We do not want any people in Nashville to fall prey to this,” said Robin Householder the CEO of the BBB.
Householder said it’s a scam.
That is some pretty strong language right there. And while I normally wouldn’t come to Walker Stalkers LLC’s defense (as I do think purchasing a ticket to one of their events is fairly risky right now), I do think the company is genuinely trying to run events that deliver on their promises — they’re just not doing a good job of it.
A number of guests have cut ties with the company over the last few months, so things aren’t exactly looking all that great right now.
